She clearly wanted to expand her readership into Urban Fantasy and lose the Romance label so I’m surprised to see this book competing here.
Shadowfever clearly isn’t a standard Romance and, as someone who’s read a lot of Fantasy, I found the world building pretty loose in places and the dramatic tension in this one (the last of the 5) poor. After four books of waiting, the answers to a series of questions were simply revealed one after another, in quick succession, and with little ceremony.
Jericho Barrons was an amazing character, however, and the one thing that kept me reading.

The entire series was amazing! The first time I finished the series, I actually put the book down, waited about five minutes and ended up picked up the first book again. Its just THAT good.
